With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, are Arsenal finally going to sign Gonzalo Higuain?

It looks like Arsenal’s protracted move for Gonzalo Higuain could be coming to a happy conclusion with reports coming out of Argentina claiming the striker is en-route to London to complete the move after a £23m fee was agreed with Real Madrid.
We’ve been strongly linked with the 25-year-old in recent weeks and he’s ‘agreed terms’ and has been ‘set for a medical’ more times than I care to remember, so I’m going to treat this latest news with caution.
However, the Metro are one of several media outlets who’ve picked up on the news coming out of South America that claims Arsenal and Madrid have finally agreed a fee after weeks of wrangling that’s seen the Spaniards hold out for £25.5m, while we’ve so far refused to go higher than £21m, but it appears we’ve now settled in the middle at £23m.
The report suggests Higuain is already flying in to London to complete the move after agreeing personal terms worth £100,000-a-week, and the deal could be concluded on Friday.
Higuain’s father, Jorge, has apparently confirmed that his son has been given permission to speak with Arsenal after a fee was agreed between the two clubs:
‘We do not negotiate with any club without permission of the selling club.
‘We have permission [from Madrid] and hopefully we can soon see my son in the Premier League.’ Higuain senior is quoted as saying by the Metro.
It’s difficult to know how to take reports coming out of foreign countries as things can easily get misinterpreted, so while I’ll be delighted if this news is true, I’m going to take it with a pinch of salt for now. Fingers crossed we hear something official soon.

A very nice news for both arsenal & higuain. Wenger should now go for marouane fellaini, julio cesar & a good right back maybe micah richard or lucas pizckes of dortmund. Then i think arsenal will be ready for title challenge.
