With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could Luis Suarez be joining Chelsea?!

Some interesting news coming out of Spain tonight with Spanish publication AS claiming that Luis Suarez is on the verge of joining Chelsea from Liverpool for €40m after agreeing a contract worth €5.5m-per-season.
The controversial Uruguayan striker has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield this summer after a turbulent season in England that saw him banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
It was the latest in a series of offences from the 26-year-old that have been punished by the FA and many thought that if he did leave Liverpool it would be to a team overseas after he revealed his frustration at the treatment he’d received on these shores, with Real Madrid thought to be his most likely destination.
However, AS are reporting that Suarez has turned his back on a move to the Spanish capital in favour of linking up with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and they claim a €40m deal has been struck between the two clubs with the player understood to have agreed a contract worth €5.5m-per-season.
Apologies Chelsea fans, but personally I don’t believe a word of this report. It seems the most unlikely of transfers, for many reasons. Here are just a few questions I’m asking myself after reading the AS report:
- Would Liverpool really agree to sell their star man to a Premier League rival?
- If Suarez was allowed to leave, would he really want to stay in England after everything that’s gone on?
- Would Liverpool accept €40m for Suarez after selling Torres to Chelsea for more?
- Why would Suarez accept wages of €5.5m-per-season, I’m pretty sure he earns more at Liverpool?
- Could Ivanovic train everyday with Suarez after he bite him?
While the answers to those questions is most likely ‘NO’, it’s worth remembering that day back in January 2011 when one of the most shocking transfers in recent history occurred. Liverpool, against all the odds, sold Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50m. Nobody saw it coming and nobody thought ‘El Nino’ would do that to the Reds – a club he proclaimed to love.
So while the Suarez to Chelsea report looks like total B.S, you just never know in football…..

Rooney is a good and suitable player for Arsenal, but he is very expensive in personal earnings. He will disturb the stable salary structure of the club. Find the same quality as Rooney of cheaper rate

What was chelsea thinking when they made a move to sign cavani?he’s not as good as rated…I will stick to suarez as a better stricker compare to his national team mate…all we need upfront is suarez,ba and torres can come from the bench…suarez will be chelsea’s best signing this season…let’s all forget about his hatred for the english FA and his personal lifestyle off and on the pitch…let’s focus on FOOTBALLING reasons…Suarez, you are highly welcome to Chelsea…

Chelsea should either get suarez, rooney or dont buy anyone than buy that lazy style of play named cavani! Players like cavani and ibramhimovich are not the type of strikers we need irrespective of their scoring rate. We need quick and smart strikers like rooney, suarez, aguero, tevez, bellami, van persie etc not cavani plzzzz! Instead of cavani for that amount then torres should be given another chance

Cavani lazy are you serious, he has the work rate of 25yr Tevez and Cavani is class. Yes he cost way to much but he knows how to link of play and how to put the ball in the net.
