Higuain Deal In Doubt? Real Madrid Deny Any Agreement With Arsenal

Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Arsenal took another twist today with Marca claiming Real Madrid have denied there is an agreement with Arsenal for the striker.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, another update on Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Arsenal.

Gonzalo Higuain’s protracted move to Arsenal took yet another twist today with Spanish newspaper Marca claiming that Real Madrid have denied there is an agreement in place with Arsenal for the striker.

After weeks of speculation and negotiations, numerous media outlets reported on Thursday that we’d agreed a £23m fee with the Spanish giants and Higuain would be heading to London in the coming days to undergo a medical and complete his move to the Emirates Stadium. We all thought it was just a matter of time until Higuain was an Arsenal player with some even hopeful it could be announced on Friday.

However, it seems we’ve jumped the gun slightly with Madrid-based newspaper Marca – who are believed to have close connections with the club – reporting this morning that they’ve had word from Madrid to confirm that no deal has been agreed and in fact Arsenal are yet to table a formal offer, and the Argentinean is closer to staying at the Bernabeu than moving to north London.

The report also claims it would take an offer in excess of the £23m to persuade Real into selling the 25-year-old, and new boss Carlo Ancelotti is open to the idea of him staying at the club.

Quite the turn of events. Now before we get too excited, it’s worth remembering who’s reporting this and what their agenda could be. If Madrid have purposely ‘leaked’ this information out through Marca, then it’s more than likely just a negotiating ploy to try and force us into upping our offer or even seeing if they could get other interested clubs involved again.

What it may mean though, is that we haven’t yet agreed a fee, which is worrying in itself considering all the recent reports to the contrary. I would still expect Higuain to be an Arsenal player, eventually, but it seems it may be a few more days before it’s officially announced. Stay patient Gooners!

That doesn’t surprise me at all.
Considering there’s no mention of higuain on the official arsenal website.
Which surely means we are not after him….yet.

At this point, I am tired and sure every other person is. We are not interested in knowing what’s happening about it anymore. I shall have a good laugh when Spurs and others beat them to the punch(for the titles). If Wenger can’t force the board to pay for top players, no need playing with our emotions!

Higuian will never play for Real Madrid he asked for tbe move. Despite Reals dirty tricks, the move may be delayed but it will happen.

If it is true, and I repaet if this is true, that no offer has been made for Higuain, then Arsene Wenger would be the most irresponsible manager in Arsenal history. George Graham won the double and still was shown the door. If Wenger has allowed all this to materialise and con the fans he should be kicked out. In reality, expect to see Higuain sign within a couple of days, because I cannot believe Wenger is either that cynical or that stupid

Well said. Arsenal would not want this circulating if they absolutely knew they were not interested or trying at all to sign him.

The backlash from fans once we learned the truth would be irrepairable.

Rubbish. This is just a pathetic attempt to bring in more hits for the website. Anyone notice the lack of quotes? Anyone notice the advertisements that are splattered all over this website?

Sid Lowe (The Guardian), a very highly respected journalist on all things Spanish Football with REAL and GENUINE links to Madrid and other Spanish teams was the one who broke the story of Real agreeing to Arsenal talking to the player.

His Father is quoted as declaring that ‘Real have given Arsenal permission to talk to Higuain and his reps’

He was also quoted as saying ‘I will get to see my son play in the Premier League’.

Has HE come out and denied these quotes? NO.

Almost EVERY good media outlet, including Sky Sports have ran the story.

So people, take this desperate attempt at hit-whoring for the pathetic pinch of salt that it is.
