Wenger Hoping To Beat Chelsea & Man Utd To Highly-Rated French Midfielder

Arsenal are ready to make his move for highly-rated Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia but could yet face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to make a move for highly-rated Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia but could yet face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

The French Under-20 international has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest young properties after an excellent season in Spain with Sevilla, where his powerful display’s at the heart of midfield have really caught the eye.

The Mail claim he’s attracted interest from the Premier League with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all understood to be keen, while Spanish giants Real Madrid are also believed to have their eye on the midfielder.

However, with Madrid on the verge of completing a deal to sign Real Sociedad’s Asier Illarramendi, the report suggests Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to steal a march on his domestic rivals by making the first move for Kondogbia.

His current club Sevilla are one of several Spanish clubs going through a tough time financially at present and they are also under pressure to sell their best players after missing out on European football next season, so there could be an opportunity to grab a bargain and it seems Wenger is keen to take it with both hands.

Sky Sports News are also reporting that the north Londoners are lining up an opening bid for the talented defensive midfielder, so it’s a case of ‘watch this space’ to see how things develop from here.

Arsenal look short of options in the defensive midfield department after failing to replace Alex Song last summer, while youngster Francis Coquelin has been sent out on loan for the forthcoming season, so Kondogbia would be a welcome addition to the squad if they manage to tie up a deal.
