Arsene Wenger & Brendan Rodgers Both Respond To Suarez Reports

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers have both had their say on reports linking the Gunners with a move for striker Luis Suarez.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodger respond to Luis Suarez move reports.

Luis Suarez Liverpool

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers have both had their say on reports linking the Gunners with a move for striker Luis Suarez.

Speculation has been rife over the past few days that the Gunners were ready to come back with an improved offer for the 26-year-old having seen their opening £30m offer rejected, with boss Wenger understood to be keen on luring the Uruguayan to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal flew out to Indonesia on Thursday for the first leg of their pre-season tour of East Asia and at their press conference on Friday, Wenger refused to rule out a move or deny his interest when quizzed about Suarez:

“Suarez? As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can’t answer the question.”Wenger is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

Wenger is usually coy on transfer dealings so his answer will come as no surprise to Gunners fans, but it’s interesting that he didn’t take the opportunity to at least try and dampen the speculation. If anything, his refusal to deny any interest in the player will simply fuel the fire even more.

However, Liverpool boss Rodgers has claimed he speaks to Suarez almost on a daily basis and is adamant his star man shouldn’t be sold this summer, and reiterated that the Merseysiders are in a strong position as the player still has three years remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

“We communicate in some way nearly every day either through text or conversations,” the Reds boss told talkSPORT.

“Over the course of the last few months and towards the end of the season there has been a lot of speculation with Luis, but the fact is it remains the same.

“We value the player. He had a terrific season for us last year and showed his qualities. Since then I’ve been in communication with him through texts and conversations on the phone and it [the situation] is pretty much the same. He is a valued player. He is an absolute magician on the field.

“Luis is a real competitor, a real winner. He wants Liverpool to do so well but, like every player, every manager, and more importantly every football club, they want to be working at the very highest level.

“At the minute he is on a break, he is relaxing with his family. We are in constant communication. He has got three years left on his contract, we don’t want to sell him, and we hope everything will be fine for the summer.

“We want to bring in few more players to reinforce the group and we think we can put up a real fight next season.”

It’s certainly an intriguing situation and I get the feeling it still has a few more weeks left to run before anything is resolved. Will Arsenal be able to pull off a major coup and bring Suarez to north London? Will Liverpool hold him to his contract and force him to remain at Anfield? Or will a certain Spanish club enter the bidding to really spice things up? Only time will tell….

Can’t see why Suarez would need to go to Arsenal, apart from a few euro games,(they’re not going to win it). They don’t play any better football than liverpool. On the other hand i can see why Arsenal want him, They struggled to fend off spurs last season and this year could see them drop out of the top four, with suarez goals they might just beat spurs again.

    • lol...yea good one!

Haha get real mate. We played you off he park in your supposed fortress last year. Suarez could be the difference between us winning things. All we need is a top goalscorer. You need to start from the bottom. You might win the fair play league this year, if you’re lucky lol. Captain marvel Gerard can’t carry you much longer. You’ve had it. No longer a big club I’m afraid!

Enough, gunners out there.Enough of the rumour mills. We are not fools nor foolish.Mr Wenger,Mr Gazidis and Mr Stan Kreonke should look among them, who sparks of foolishness in their self deceit. In my opinion, the sparkle of foolishness rubs off on the trio.We know those threesome has no intention of buying anybody,Higuain is not coming,Suarez is a hoarse,Rooney is a fab.We know the truth,Sanogo is their £70m signing. So,I tell the three tricksters,go to hell with your deceit.Arsenal is bigger than you all combined.I shall remain in love with the Arsenal brand and support the boys who toil daily to raise the club up from the pit the three of you had thrown them into, but I have lost my respect for the three of you and I wish you swift down fall,so that my Arsenal can rise again. But for the need to keep some decorum on an international platform like this,I would have poured invectives on the three of you worthless liars and Arsenal killers.

Arsene is playing with d emotions of d fans most especially British based fans who can’t show anger by boycotting some matches to draw home their points.Or atleast protest to d club house demanding for his sack if he doesn’t spend d well publicised 70million pounds in his possession.Shame indeed

Please with due respect to Liverpool f.c. they are NOT IN THE SAME CLASS with Arsenal f.c.Arsenal play the best attacking football in England even though i hate their stingy board for not spending big on players. In the last 6 season Liverpool have not beaten Arsenal in Anfield.Liverpool have not played Champion league football in the last 4 or 5 seasons.Suarez WANT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL.Its not too much to ask

Can Arsenal pay 40 million is another matter, still dont think Suarez will move to another English club after his comments about English media.
Baffling if Liverpool will be willing to sell him to any other prem club. unlikely though
