Arsenal Dealt Further Blow As Gonzalo Higuain Claims ‘Mourinho Wants Me At Chelsea’

Arsenal’s chances of signing Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain have been dealt another blow after the striker claimed that Jose Mourinho wants him at Chelsea.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Gonzalo Higuain claims Chelsea are in for him.

Arsenal’s chances of signing Gonzalo Higuain have been dealt another blow after the striker claimed that Jose Mourinho wants to take him to Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Argentinean hitman this summer and were thought to be close to securing a £23m deal earlier on this month. However, the transfer stalled when Real Madrid upped the asking price and reports on Wednesday claimed Arsenal’s chances of landing the prolific striker are fading fast with the Spanish champions were now demanding £37m after cash-rich Napoli entered the race.

Now it appears Arsene Wenger will have to fight off competition from London rivals Chelsea as well, with Higuain quoted as saying that new Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to take him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

‘Mourinho want me there [Chelsea]” Higuain was quoted as saying by the Mail

Mourinho insisted on Wednesday that his only priority this summer was to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United after the champions rejected their opening offer, but if the ‘Special One’ wants a new striker this summer it’s likely he’ll have fall-back options in case the Rooney deal fails to go through and it seems Higuain could be in his thoughts.

A move to Chelsea may surprise some though, considering the lack of first team football Higuain got under Mourinho last season at the Bernabeu. The 25-year-old only managed 16 goals, his lowest return in five years, and his lack of action prompted him to consider a move away from the Spanish capital in the first place so he’d be a brave man to link up with his former boss again in west London.

Higuin was unhappy at Real because he was not being given first choice to play under Mourinho. What makes him think that things will be different at Chelsea under the same manager? I think he wasted Arsenal time while he knew that he was raising his profile in the market

What a load of rubbish this story is, the big mouth one at Chelski didn’t play him at Real that’s why he wants to leave so why the hell would he want him now. Fed up of all these desperate stories

If he goes to Chelsea who will be surprised. Another example of us doing all the work and them coming in late with a bigger salary offer. It happened with Cech, Mata and Hazard.

Slightly off topic, but why do Arsenal come out and say they have tons of money and then end up buying mediocre players every season? Why can’t they just say they do not have money if they don’t. In that case, fans won’t be frustrated at lack of spending, and if they do end up buying someone eventually, us fans will welcome it as a pleasant surprise.

Wenger should stop talking about being able to afford players like Rooney and sign someone already!! Don’t think impressive wins against Asian teams are going to appease the fans into thinking the squad is not desperate for new signings, we need to be making a serious statement of intent by making major signings and showing the Man Cities of this world were ready to compete for the title, not 4th place!!!

Arsenal/Wenger is just making mouth. The club has money but selfish to sign good and quality players. They are not that crazy about trophy, Wenger is just making money for the club by buying young players and selling them with huge money after they are mature to bring the trophy home. Arsenal/Wenger is talking because others are talking, he don’t want to be left out. In the real sense he won’t do any thing. I want Arsenal/Wenger to prove me wrong.
