Liverpool Transfer News: Barca Eye Anfield Raid | Reds Make Ben Arfa Approach
Latest Liverpool transfer rumours. Today, Barcelona are ready to renew their interest in Daniel Agger while Liverpool have made an approach for Hatem Ben Arfa.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest Liverpool transfer rumours. Today, Barcelona are ready to renew their interest in Daniel Agger while Liverpool have made an approach for Hatem Ben Arfa.
Barca want Agger
First up and the Express are reporting that Barcelona have set their sights on Liverpool defender Daniel Agger after their first choice target Thiago Silva insisted he was staying at PSG.
The Catalans are keen to add to their defensive options this summer and have been heavily linked with Brazilian stopper Silva. However, the 28-year-old has dismissed speculation that he’s set for a move after insisting he’ll still be at PSG next season:
“Rumours? I have a four-year contract with Paris St Germain and I will respect this.
“The season will start as the last one ended. I’ll wear the jersey of Paris.” Silva is quoted as saying by the Express
The Express claim this snub has seen the La Liga champions turn their attention back to Agger with boss Tito Vilanova feeling the Danish international has the technical ability to fit in well with the Barcelona style of play.
Liverpool will do all they can to hang on to the 28-year-old but the newspaper suggests the Spaniard’s will test their resolve with an offer in the region of £16m this summer.
Rodgers eyes Ben Arfa
Next up and according to French newspaper L’Equipe, Liverpool have approached Newcastle United over the availability of attacker Hatem Ben Arfa.
The Reds have been linked with the French winger in the past and it seems they’ve renewed their interest with the report claiming that Brendan Rodgers has made contact with the Geordies earlier this week to see if a deal could be done for the 26-year-old this summer.
Ben Arfa has seen his progress at St James Park hampered by a series of injuries and he only made 6 Premier League starts last season, although he did manage to score 4 goals and provide 2 assists in his 16 appearances.
The former Lyon and Marseille winger still has two years to run on his current deal at Newcastle and it remains to be seen whether they’ll be persuaded to cash in this summer.
