Chelsea Submit €9.4m Bid For Highly-Rated Brazilian
Premier League giants Chelsea have submitted an opening €9.4million offer for highly-rated Brazilian central defender Doria, according to reports in Brazil.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with a Brazilian defender.
Chelsea have submitted a €9.4m bid for highly-rated Brazilian central defender Doria, according to reports in Brazil.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of South America’s most sought-after young talents after breaking into the Botafogo starting eleven last season. He’s been hugely impressive during his 31 appearances so far and has recently been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Porto and Benfica.
However, Chelsea appear to have made the first move with Brazilian newspaper Lancenet claiming they have tabled a formal offer through the players agent, Carlos Meinberg Neto, worth a total of €9.4m. Of this amount, Botafogo would only receive €4m as the other €5.4m would go to third parties who own 60% of the players economic rights.
Chelsea know Carlos Meinberg Neto well as he’s also the agent for Blues midfielder Oscar, and the report suggests Roman Abramovich has set a deadline of Friday night to hear back regarding the offer.
Should the West Londoners be successful in signing Doria, he will join a growing list of Brazilian footballers at Stamford Bridge that already includes Oscar, David Luis, Ramires, Wallace and Lucas Piazon.
Chelsea seem well-stocked in the centre of defence at present so Jose Mourinho is likely to have long-term plans for Doria if he decides to bring him in this summer. It’s almost certain he would be loaned out for at least one season as he’ll struggled to gain a work permit having only made 1 senior appearance for his country, but he’s certainly one to watch out for in the future.
