Transfer News: Arsenal Hope To Finally Land Suarez With Record £51m Bid

Arsenal will look to finally land want-away striker Luis Suarez by tempting Liverpool’s resolve with a record £51million offer, according to reports today.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are ready to table an improved bid for Luis Suarez.

Arsenal will look to finally land want-away striker Luis Suarez by tempting Liverpool’s resolve with a record £51m offer, according to reports today.

After weeks of speculation, the Uruguayan finally broke his silence in a hard-hitting interview with the Telegraph on Tuesday night where he accused Liverpool of failing to honor the terms of his contract after rejecting Arsenal’s£40,000,001 bid two weeks ago.

The 26-year-old claims he has both a verbal and written agreement with the club that he would be allowed to leave this summer if a bid of £40m or more was offered by a club in the Champions League if the Reds failed to finish in the top-four.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hit back last night by slamming the striker for showing the club a lack of respect and has ordered him to train alone, but the former Ajax man told the Telegraph that he’s prepared to take his case to the Premier League and has already called in the help of the PFA to try and resolve the dispute.

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor confirmed yesterday that the clause in the players contract can be interpreted in different ways and if the case is taken before a Premier League arbitration panel, it’s likely to take some time before they come to a verdict and it will probably drag past the close of the transfer window. He told talkSPORT:

“These buy-out clauses have caused no end of problems in the past and continue to do so.

“He believes the £40m amount that is mentioned, if that is offered, gives him the right to go.

“Liverpool are saying that is a minimum figure from which they will consider negotiation and of course they will want to keep the player, unless they replace the player with someone as good or better, which is not going to be easy in a short period of time.

“There are different ways it can be interpreted. If it goes to the Premier League, it will take time and the window is then closed. It is a delicate situation.”

The Daily Star claim that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was prepared to wait to see how the situation played out, saying the pursuit was on ‘standby’ on Tuesday morning. However, with things looking likely to run into September as lawyers wrangle over the exact wording of the strikers clause, the newspaper suggests that Wenger is now concerned he may not get his man this summer and has decided it’s time to test Liverpool’s resolve with a huge £51m bid.

That figure is much closer to the numbers Liverpool have suggested could tempt them and should it be successful, it would break the British transfer record set when Chelsea paid Liverpool £50m for Fernando Torres in January 2011.

With Liverpool taking a hard-line approach, it’s seems the only way Arsenal will get Suarez this summer is if they table an offer too good for them to refuse and if the Star is correct, £51m is sure to tempt them. Suarez’s position at Anfield could be described as untenable following his claims against the club so the Merseysiders may be more receptive to the idea of selling, but I’m sure they’ll do all they can to prevent him going to the Emirates with Arsenal seen as their major competition for a top-four finish next season.

Exactly what i was thinking, there is no quotes in this story, there is no way Wenger will pay that much, i would be pretty angry if he did, he is a good player but his attitude and the risk of employing him does not warrant that kind of fee, i think 40m is also to much, you can get 2 world class players for 25m each, look at the Real Madrid player we just missed out on. Suarez is an idiot i i don’t really want him at my club, it would be good to see the deal fall through and then Liverpool are in turmoil and on the back foot before the season even starts, one less team to worry about.

If you think Liverpool are rivals of Suarez, what have you been smoking? LFC again disrespecting good clubs like Everton and West Bromwich! Face it LFC Real have no real money, Barca have Neymar. I wonder if PSG, Monaco or City will come in…or does Wenger have respectful relations with these clubs? Who do Liverpool think are going to bid? Tottenham?

I feel £51m is worth buying for Suarez. Arsenal has been very polite in handling traitor RVP, smash this bad mouth Brendan.Do it Arsenal.

If the Suarez deal doesn’t come off, let’s try for Torres. He’s a class act and will not look forward to rank behind Rooney.

The only way we will get Suarez is to pay £50m. If he is our no.1 target, we MUST do this. Unfortunately, I can’t see Wenger doing it in a million years

Suarez cannot go on staying with a hopeless liverpool who is living in past glory. Arsenal have been a champions league team for 17years and they shall always be inspite of the fact that they have been selling their star players all these years. With the new Arsenal resolve and aspiration to return to the topmost by keeping their players and adding new stars, i see Suarez making the right decision. Rogers should let him go where his heart is instead of forcing Suarez to stay with a club that are doomed forever with no slimest hope of finishing among the EPL top four.

If Liverpool is living in past glory with 18 local trophies, 5 champions league trophies and numerous laurels, den tel me wat past or even present glory dat Arsenal is living on. Hypocrites, if u want Suarez say it and dont come here to insult urselvse. If I can sell RVP nd Fabrigas out of foolishness do u want liverpool to join u in such irrational step. Think twice all u liverpool haters. If Suarez wants to go let him go, those whom liverpool backed at their darkest moment and later betrayed d anfield side paid dearly for it, ask Owen nd Toress, ur story will never be any less. U ungrateful monster. U think arsenal can shield u, jst wait and see
