Leighton-BainesWith the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are set to bid £30m for Marouane Fellaini and Liverpool are linked with a £12m move for a La Liga defender.

United eye £30m double raid

First up and the Guardian are reporting that Manchester United are ready to table a £30m bid for Everton duo Marounae Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

The newspaper claims United are already in talks with Everton over the potential signing of Fellaini after missing out on top midfield target Cesc Fabregas but they have now also enquired about full-back Baines, and David Moyes is understood to be lining-up a £30m bid for the pair.

Moyes if of course familiar with the duo having taken them both to Goodison Park during his time at Everton but it seems he’s keen for them to follow him to Old Trafford this summer and is ready to test the Toffees resolve with a firm bid.

The Guardian claim that Fellaini has other others within the Premier League but would jump at the chance to link up with Moyes again at United with the champions keen to bolster their midfield options ahead of next season.

Liverpool eye £12m defender bid

Next up and the Express are reporting that Liverpool are ready to step up their efforts to sign a new left-back by bidding £12m for Granada defender Guilherme Siqueira.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has so far been frustrated in his attempts to bring in competition for Jose Enrique this summer but it’s claimed that he has now turned his attention to 27-year-old Siqeuira – who was linked with Everton earlier on in the summer.

The Express suggest Liverpool are set to table an opening bid of £12m – which falls well short of the players £21m release clause – but the Reds could face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who are also believed to be keen on the full-back but may have to sell Fabio Coentrao first before making any move.

Siqueira was in excellent form for Granada last season, making 35 appearances in La Liga, but the Brazilian born ace may be open to a move to Liverpool in order to boost his chances of breaking into the Brazil squad ahead of next summer’s 2014 World Cup.

Not going to happen (LFC one). None ‘ll spend 12m for a backup left-back, unless you have oil money or mafia money.

The MU deal I knew from the day Moyes joined Old Traford.
