Man Utd Release Official Statement On Cesc Fabregas After Midfielder Rules Out Move

Man Utd have taken the unusual step of releasing a statement in response to Cesc Fabregas’ comments earlier where he ruled out a move to the Premier League.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd respond to Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Manchester United have taken the unusual step of releasing an official statement in response to Cesc Fabregas’ comments earlier where he ruled out a move to the Premier League this summer, according to the clubs official website.

Fabregas has been strongly linked with a return to England just two years after leaving Arsenal with the 26-year-old struggling to establish himself as an important first team player at the Nou Camp.

United have already have already had two bids turned down this summer and reports earlier this week suggested David Moyes was lining up a third and final offer of £35m plus add ons. Former club Arsenal have also reportedly been keeping a close eye on the midfielders situation with boss Arsene Wenger confirming he was ‘on alert’ because of the Gunners buy-back clause in the players contract.

However, Fabregas confirmed at a press conference earlier on Thursday that he’s never thought about leaving Barcelona and insists it remains his dream to play for his hometown club. The midfielder did say he was honored that United made two bids for him but claims he had not held any talks with the champions. Here’s what he had to say:

‘I am very calm and I know that many people have said I have to make things clear. My dream since I was a kid was to be at Barca,’ said Fabregas.

‘My dream has not changed. It’s true that the level of competition at this club is huge, but I am prepared to give my best every day.

‘It’s an honour United makes two bids, but there have been no talks. I didn’t talk with any club since I joined Barça two years ago.

‘I’ve always felt valued by the club. Everyone told me they count on me, I never got any sign that made me think otherwise.

‘I didn’t have to clear up anything, because for me it was clear I wanted to stay. I told the club I’d talk when it was my turn.’ [source: Metro]

United have now responded to this with a statement simply saying:

“We appreciate Cesc is a contracted player at Barcelona, and completely respect everything Cesc has said today,” a spokesman is quoted as saying on ManUtd.com

Will this be the end of United’s pursuit? Will this put an end to the constant speculation in the newspapers? We’ll have to wait and see but it was certainly an unusual step for United to release a statement just to say they respect what Fabregas has said today.  The club have been very open with their interest in the Spaniard, which is also in stark contrast to how they did their transfer business under Sir Alex Ferguson.

United have showed true class, well done and fair play to them fro respecting Cesc and Barcelona, now is there any chance of that self proclaimed uber classy team in North London respecting Liverpool’s wishes.

Lol brainless. it’s disrespectful and egotistical of Man U to table 2 bids in the first place because of the passion Cesc has for Barca, it would have broke his heart had he to actually move away! Suarez wants to leave Liverpool, a club which has had him for a couple of years and is certainly not his ‘home’ team. He WANTS TO LEAVE. Do u get the difference in situations? Arsenal wouldn’t have bid if this wasn’t the situation, they want to seize the moment.

A tad touchy ain’t you, Chris is just speaking the truth.

Truth you say? Are you a Man Ure fan? That shows how disengaged with reality you actually are and it doesn’t bode well for your team’s supporters. And yes, anything Cesc for most Arsenal fans will get them very touch believe me. The Truth is that Chris was actually venting spleen and being ‘touchy’ in the first place on a matter nothing to do with Cesc or this transfer, in any way.

Suarez may want out, but Liverpool have firmly stated no to Arsenal on two occasions. Yet Arsenal won’t do the decent thing of either making a reasonable bid or backing away. They are just hanging around hoping that the player tries to force the move so they won’t have to pay the going rate, that just isn’t classy and you can’t tell anyone that it is. Its just a notch above street begging really.

Do you expect Liverpool to come out and say they want to sell there best player? Arsenal never wanted to sell Robin.. But he wanted out. What about Liverpool showing class and letting him go as he clearly does not want to be at anfield.

Pay the going rate? For a player with that much baggage 40m is a great price! They should let him leave and see what a true world class manager can do with him in AW. I mean RVP was a wildcard when he joined Arsenal, but under AW guidence he’s now one of the worlds best strikers. Maybe Suarez could be too.

Hello Chris, you forget to mention Suarez’s wishes? You seem to conveniently forget that as its completely a contrast to what cesc wants. Suarez wants out. So what wish are you talking about here mate that the North Londoners has failed to respect.

Sure they showed true class when Arsenal said Van Persie was not for sale or when Villa said Yorke was not for sale or when Everton said Rooney was not for sale.

Every club in the world always say a player is not for sale just before they accept a big offer for the player.

Arsenal have placed two bids and did not make it public. It was the owner of Liverpool who sent that crazy twit that made it public knowledge that Arsenal actually placed a bid for Suarez.

And he is fully entitled to make it public, when did Arsenal start making up the rules.

Man united released a statement solely to back what fabregas has said and thank you for not demeaning united. Barcelona and united have a great relationship this is why it didn’t get ugly and was resolved in the right way.now united just need something realistic for us fans to actually believe might happen.if not then moyes first season might be a complete joke, and I don’t agree with it myself but the fans will riot like they did when we sold tevez. This summer so far though what a joke

The appointment of David Moyes as a Man U manager was a joke in the first place and I will maintain that statement for as long as DM does prove me wrong; until then, no apologies for believing otherwise. Proven managers like Klopp, Capello, Benitez, etc who have all had CVs at top clubs and have won trophies before. Plan B those mentioned would have been Martinez, Laundrap, Rednapp, etc, who have atleast won something before in England with smaller teams. What about Moyes?? The best achievement so far as Man Utd manager is embarassement in the transfer market + chasing a whirlwind. Let us wait to see the next tranfer failure/ saga in waiting.

This has nothing to do with arsenal being classy or not. They were set to buy higuain for 22m then madrid wanted 35m. So suarez agent called them and said for 35m you will probably get luis suarez for £40m+ u will definitely get him. So they submitted the two bids that is football suarez wants arsenal and arsenal want suarez its just liverpool that cannot see that. As for cesc united want cesc but cesc wants barca and barca want cesc so he stays at barca. I still think this will go to the wire over suarez. Liverpool will now be looking at options (defoe, adebayor, bent, ba, cisse all players that thrive in the europa league) as they won’t want an unhappy player. Arsenal will also be looking at options (rooney, torres, lewandowski, damiao, sanchez, costa, kiessling, eto – players that could allstill move this summer for less than suarez)
