David Moyes takes charge of his first Premier League game in charge of Manchester United as he takes the reigning champions to the Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea City on Saturday evening.
Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford hot-seat earlier in the summer and starts the unenviable job of trying to follow the legendary Scot this weekend.
After a difficult pre-season that saw United win just two games from seven friendlies, the Red Devils saw off FA Cup winners Wigan 2-0 in the Charity Shield last weekend thanks to a brace from Robin van Persie.
Much of United’s pre-season has been overshadowed by continued doubts over the future of Wayne Rooney with the England forward expressing his desire to seek a new challenge this summer. Rooney has only featured once in pre-season but got 67 minutes under his belt for England in midweek but it remains to be seen whether Moyes will include him in the starting line-up this weekend.
Michael Laudrup on the other hand has enjoyed a settled summer that’s seen him spend around £20m in strengthening his squad and the Carling Cup winners have been in excellent pre-season form, winning seven straight games – scoring 28 goals and conceding just once – so they will no doubt he heading into this clash full of confidence.
Team News
Swansea will be without the services of midfielder Jonathan de Guzman after he suffered concussion following a clash of heads while training with the Dutch squad this week.
New summer signing Wilfred Bony is in line to make his home debut for the Swans despite only arriving back from his exploits with the Ivory Coast on Thursday night.
Pablo Hernandez has recovered from a groin problem and Jonjo Shelvey is fit again after a bout of illness, so both are in contention to start.
Wayne Rooney has travelled with the United squad to Wales but it’s unlikely he’ll be involved from the start as Moyes is expected to keep the England striker on the bench.
Wingers Ashley Young and Nani are both out through injury and they join Rafael and Javier Hernandez on the sidelines with the pair suffering from hamstring injures.
Michael Carrick is expected to recover from an eye infection that kept him out of England’s win over Scotland in midweek and Wilfred Zaha could make his first Premier League start after impressing last weekend.
Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score
Swansea 1-2 Manchester United: Moyes will get a narrow win in his first game in charge but Swansea will make life extremely difficult for the champions.

I highly doubt that welbeck will score no offense man but he hasn’t been the best finisher. He only scored twice last season, he is a better striker for England than he is for United. And the line-up would be better if welbeck comes out of starting and we replace him with a natural wide player.
