With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal line-up a double raid on Swansea.

Arsenal are lining-up a £35m double swoop on Swansea for defender Ashley Williams and striker Michu, according to the Evening Standard.

It’s been a hugely frustrating summer for Arsenal and the fans made their feelings perfectly clear to boss Arsene Wenger following Saturday’s 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa, with a huge amount of criticism rightly being pointed in the Frenchman’s direction.

A number of high profile names have so far slipped through our grasp – despite the club openly admitting we have money to spend this summer and Wenger claiming he wants at least “2 or 3” new signings.

It seems the boss has now turned his attention to Swansea duo Williams and Michu with the Standard claiming we’re lining-up a £35m double raid on the Liberty Stadium.

Striker Michu bagged 22 goals in his debut season in the Premier League following a £2m arrival from Rayo Vallecano and the newspaper suggests the Welsh outfit would be willing to do business at around £25m.

Some fans feel the 27-year-old’s signing would be something of an anti-climax after we’ve been linked with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez, but he’d still be an excellent addition to the squad. £25m seems like a lot though and I’d be surprised if Wenger agreed to pay such a fee for a player who’s only had one good season in the Prem.

The report also claims we’ve had a £6m bid for Williams rejected this month but could go back in at £10m. I’d personally like to see someone like Sakho come in ahead of Williams as I feel we need a defender who’s capable of playing in more than one position, and the Frenchman can play at right back or in the middle, but with the defence decimated by injury I’ll take what we can get right now!

Do your homework sakho can play left back and centre back he can and has also played DM. I agree though I would go for him.

Fact is injuries aside we have just 12 non-homegrown players and 4 homegrown players (assuming you don’t include park and bendtner)

For me the bare minimum in a squad should be 22 players classed as homegrown/non-homegrown. So at the very least we need 6 players. Ideally you would fill the remaining 3 places in the 25 man squad too with an extra keeper a versatile defensive player and versatile attacking player.

Sure we have some top players born 1992 or later that deserve their place in the squad, but tell me would u want to go to war with experienced soldiers with the ak47s and khaleshnekovs or a bunch of rookies with pea shooters and water pistols.

Here is how my squad would look

    GK – 1. New signing 2. Szczesney 3. Fabianski
    RB – 1. Sagna 2. New signing
    RCB 1. Mertesacker 2. Koscielny
LCB 1. New signing 2. Vermaelen
    LB 1. Gibbs 2. Monreal
DM 1. New signing 2. Arteta
CB 1. New signing 2. Ramsey
RAM 1. Walcott 2. New signing
    CAM 1. Cazorla 2. Rosicky
LAM 1. New signing 2. Podolski
CF 1. New signing 2. Giroud
Extra defensive player – New signing
    Extra attacking player – Diaby

This would leave us with these under 21s – wilshire frimpong martinez jenkinson ryo bellerin hayden boateng olsson gnabry zelalem fagan jeffrey ansah akpom jebb lipman yennaris eisfeld siemann iliev ormonde-ottewill toral sanogo afobe and chamberlain

Now that is more like a squad. 7-9 signings required sure we could go without the extra defensive and attacking players but certainly we need a new no.1 keeper.

are these 2 players good enough to lift the squad up to possible champions.no i dont think so, arsenal have been in decline for years now, you have to bring in a new top quality player every season to keep the squad fresh…arsenal now a laughing stock 🙁

Same story, same method, same rush hour buying every year, its only fans that can solve this problem if only they can leave arsenal spaces empty in up to three matches no fans should go and watch any match, I would have say no fans should buy ticket until we get all the expected signing but that is too late. Wenger and his cunning board are playing on fans intelligent I was expecting us to win Man U and Chelsea this year but what I see is my club losing to aston villa together with three injuries
