Transfer News: Spurs Eye Mata | Arsenal Linked With £38m Bid For German Playmaker

Latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with an audacious move for Chelsea’s Juan Mata while Arsenal are lining up a £38million bid for Mesut Ozil.

As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Spurs are linked with Chelsea’s Juan Mata while Arsenal are lining up a bid for Mesut Ozil.

Spurs eye Mata

First up and the Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham are lining up an audacious move for Chelsea attacker Juan Mata after losing out to their London rivals for the signature of Willian.

Andre Villas-Boas’ side are set to bring in a world record fee once the protracted sale of Gareth Bale is finalised and the Mail claim they have identified Mata an the ideal replacement for the Welshman.

Mata’s future has come under scrutiny in recent weeks following the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager and speculation over his role at the club increased further following the arrival of Willian.

The newspaper suggests that Spurs are ready to make a surprise bid to try and lure him to north London with the promise of regular first team football – which could be important in a World Cup year. However, let’s be honest, it’s highly unlikely Mata is going to accept a move to White Hart Lane as they can’t offer Champions League football, while Chelsea are also unlikely to sell – despite question marks over his future.

Arsenal linked with Ozil

Next up and the Sun are claiming that Arsenal are ready to make a sensational £38m move for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.

It’s been a hugely frustrating summer in north London with boss Arsene Wenger missing out on a number of transfer targets, leading to increased pressure from the fans for the club to spend during the final week of the window.

Wenger has admitted he’s in the market for new signings and the Sun claim he’s set his sights on Ozil, who could be surplus to requirements once Madrid complete their protracted move for Gareth Bale and a £38m bid has been mooted.

Arsenal have also been linked with Ozil’s team-mates Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema, but the newspaper suggests that the German international is now also on Wenger’s radar as he looks to bring in a marquee name.

The Emirates faithful would surely be delighted if the club could lure any one of the three Madrid players they’ve been linked with, but it remains to be seen if they can pull it off. With just a week remaining until the transfer window shuts, time is running out for Wenger to spend his millions.

Why Would Mata go to the Tin-Pot Totts???
Seriously, that club is so deluded.
They bought Soldado who was ridiculously over-priced for his age and record – and will not score 15 goals this season (in open play).
Paulinho is a good player, but the likes of Chadli, Capoue and the rest of their midfield like sigurdson etc are decidedly average.
Liverpool may overtake the Totts this season to 5th

Capoue has done great as a holding mid, and Chadli looks gr8. Levy has done a great job. However, Spurs have spent 100 mil, and are yet to score a goal that isn’t a PK from the spot. Luck Luck Luck

Think he does! Spurs are a small club living in past glory. Your cup final is against Arsenal where your little deluded fans got over excited. Average players coming in to replace Bale who without u would not have finished top half.

Since spurs is deluded, why not focus on your chavski idiots who are not delude and leave spurs to the deluded?
If spurs players are average and they buy average players, then why waste your energy trying to steal players away from them(Willian) that are average?

If Soldado was “ridiculously overpriced” then what the hell was Torres? Value lol!!!Soldado is a quality goal scorer and once Spurs sign the right player to supply him you will see what he is made of. I agree the Mata story is unrealistic as Chelski hate Spurs since the Arnesen scam and then Modric. Eriksen gets my vote as the man to supply the goals.

Wenger is a BIG ERECT PENIS! As a LARGE, HAIRY VAGINA, Wenger has virtually achieved his objective – “threaten” to sign “top Quality” players, and issue vague rumblings to deflect scrutiny, basically, wind down the 2013 summer transfer window! Gaaad, who hired this DICK-HEAD to Manage Arsenal FC?!!!

You know nothing WAMBA, and I pray you are not an Arsenal supporter. If so, please go support a different club. I appreciate my club has a long standing manager who has done better than any other manager (minus fergie) in EPL for 16 consecutive seasons. Your a disgrace to AFC SUPPORTERS if you are one, which I hope your not. you have no clue on how the transfer market works, and how hard these negotiations must be, and it is all not on Wenger. As oz says you need serious help

ican only applaued oz and jp have said, there is no place on here for foul mouthed bigguts,so we havent bought anybody yet but i still think he will bring in 3-4 players dont need to be big signings we dont need 38mill players because everybody else has spent poorly,i dont think any of the transfers so far have really improved any of the top 6?we just need some balance id like ceasar/krul in goal defenders sako and richards midfield i like ozil but do we need him we need def/mid fellini creative mid i like gourcuff and up front ba or michu that would be as big as i would go,we lost to villa with some bad errors buy the ref so i dont think we should panic yet!if i was a spud fan i would be wondering where we are going to score in open play.

Hahahaha commenting on arsenal not winning a trophy in 8 years!! Seriously! Sorry but when was the last time spurs was in a champions league final? Lifting the EPL? Winning the domestic double perhaps?? Or maybe going the entire season unbeaten ( you may if heard of us. The invicibles!)

Yeah we ain’t won nothing for 8 years. But we been to the dance! Bought the t shirt and are damn site closer than you to gate crashing the current party!! I mean you yids have literally done sweet FA!!! Lol ah you do make me laugh the lot of ya I must admit lol

I can bet Wenger wont spend , hil buy one or two cheap average players and say that he didnt get the top players he wanted. Is he the only 1 who doesnt get the players he wants? He is jas a pennypinching bloody liar. Chelsea hav gained more in the last 5 yrs than wenger has done in the last 16yrs. Its so painful to be an arsenal fan.

Arsenal might have not done well in the transfer market but I trust in the boys we have and I believe more faces will be coming in soon!

Sure Wenger is gonna add two to three qualities to the squad! This season is going to be a great season for the gunners. I hope Benzema or michu makes it down to the club. Sacko is going to be a great addtion to the defence. Getting a box to box midfielder like Cabaye will make the defence rock solid.
