Tottenham Hotspurs extraordinary summer spending spree has continued today as they’ve announced the signing of centre-back Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest

As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Spurs complete the signing of Vlad Chiriches.

Tottenham Hotspurs extraordinary spending spree has continued today as they’ve announced the signing of centre-back Vlad Chiriches.

The 23-year-old Romanian international flew in to London on Wednesday night to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms after the north Londoners agreed terms with Steaua Bucharest.

Those formalities have now been finalised with Spurs confirming his signing on their official website as well as announcing it on Twitter with a photo of the centre-back holding his new shirt.

Chiriches joined Steaua from Pandurii Targu Jiu and made his debut in July 2011. He really made a name for himself last season as he helped guide the club to the Romanian Liga 1 title and his impressive display’s at the back drew attention from all over Europe.

However, Tottenham have clinched his signature and he joins Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Nacer Chadli in making the move to White Hart Lane this summer.

The spending doesn’t look like stopping there with reports suggesting Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are also close to completing moves with Andre Villas-Boas building a squad that will be capable of breaking into the top four, at least.
