Luis Suarez made his long-awaited comeback against Manchester United last night after completing his 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic last season.

The Uruguayan was thrust straight back into action at Old Trafford by Brendan Rodgers for their Capital One Cup third round tie and although United ran out 1-0 winners in the end, Suarez will have been glad to be back in the thick of things.

He put in a solid display and went close to scoring on a number of occasions, with the best of his efforts a late free-kick that hit the crossbar.
