Rodgers Sends Scouts To Watch Lazio Startlet

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to run the rule over highly-rated Lazio ace Keita Balde Diao this past week ahead of a potential swoop this January

Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Liverpool are linked with a Lazio youngster.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to run the rule over highly-rated Lazio youngster Keita Balde Diao this past week ahead of a potential swoop in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old marked his first start for the Italians with an assist during a 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the Europa League last Thursday, and it seems Liverpool had scouts their to witness it.

The Mail claims Liverpool manager Rodgers sent representatives to keep a close eye on the striker and they would have been impressed with what they saw as he put in a lively display capped with a fine assist.

The Catalan-born striker with Senagalese parents joined Lazio in 2011 for just £250,000 after being released by his hometown club, Barcelona, following a row that was sparked when the player put ice cubes in a team mates bed while on a youth team tour in Qatar.

He was subsequently sent out on loan to lower league side Cornella where he scored 47 goals for their youth team in a prolific season. However, the damage had been done to his relationship with Barca and he was eventually snapped up by Lazio just over two years ago – signing a contract until 2017.

The newspaper suggests Rodgers may be tempted to make a move for the teenager when the transfer window re-opens in January but it remains to be seen whether the Serie A club will be willing to do business or not.
