Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Here, interest mounts in Alexander Milosevic.

Arsenal and Liverpool will face stiff competition to land Swedish starlet Alexander Milosevic with a whole host of European clubs interested in his services, according to the Express.

The 21-year-old defender has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in his homeland after a string of impressive displays for AIK, and after representing the Sweden Under-21’s 15 times, he finally earned his first senior cap earlier this year.

The Express claim that Arsenal and Liverpool have been leading the chase for his signature but they may now face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham and Fulham, as well as Celtic, AC Milan and Fiorentina, who have all reportedly been keeping track of the promising young centre-back.

The newspaper suggests that several scouts are expected to be in the stands to watch Milosevic in action for the Swedish Under-21’s against Poland this week and AIK are bracing themselves for a number of bids with the youngster now in the final year of his contract and an agreement over an extension is yet to be reached.

While Milosevic would be unlikely to command a first team berth at Arsenal or Liverpool any time soon, he certainly sounds like a promising talent and would be regarded as one for the future if he did end up making the move to the Emirates or Anfield.
