Bendtner vs Barca

Written by Fab4.

Ok Gooners, make sure your sitting down for this. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given a positive injury update ahead of this weekend’s game against Birmingham City. What?! Wenger is talking about players RETURNING from injury after an international break instead of telling us about one of our stars being sidelined for six weeks?! Yes that’s right, i told you you needed to be sitting down.

VOdds

Gibbs, Walcott and Bendtner are all closing in on a first team return after injury lay-off’s, while Aaron Ramsey is making good progress as well. Of the remaining injury victims Captain Fabregas is still sidelined but may be back in midweek, while Sagna, Vermaelen and Almunia are all around 10 days away. Of course RVP is taking his time recovering as usual but that’s to be expected, so give it a couple of weeks and we’ll nearly be back to full strength! (cue a spate of injuries over the next couple of games!)

So with a bit of luck our latest injury nightmare is almost behind us and we’ll have a full squad to chose from once more. I honestly can’t remember the last time Arsenal put out their strongest side and I have everything crossed that I might witness it come the beginning of November.  Vermaelen, Fabregas, Arshavin, Wilshere, Nasri, Walcott, RVP all playing together….cant wait!

Anyway, here is what Arsene had to say about the injury news:

“We have some good news because for a while we’ve had only bad news,” he said. “Nicklas Bendtner is back in the squad and Kieran Gibbs is back too.

“Let’s not forget that since last November Nicklas has produced here and there but never had a consistent presence because of his injuries.

“Apart from the fact he went to the World Cup we have not seen the real Nicklas Bendtner for a long, long time. He is the closest he has been to his best for a while. He was really, really handicapped by groin problems but they have gone now.

“Theo might be involved on Saturday as well. He has normal training tomorrow. I might put him in the squad. I will see how he is but he looks very, very sharp. The only uncertainty is his ankle but he might be involved.

“Cesc is very, very short and unlikely to be involved [on Saturday]. He has a little chance for Tuesday.

“Sagna is ten days, Vermaelen is ten days, Almunia is a question of days but Van Persie looks to be a bit longer.”

great news, roll on november. cant wait to see vermaelen, fabregas, walcott, van persie, bendtner and ramsey back from injury. we might moan about bendtner but he does his fair share of scoring very important goals, while walcott’s pace will give any defence problems, while vermaelens presence at the back is a comforting thought but it’s the return of the great fabregas that will surely please all arsenal fans and annoy everyone else. i really hope that aaron ramsey comes back to the player he was, tho’ i unfortunetly doubt it, same goes for frimpong, this was meant to be his year to shine. anyway with our team getting closer to full strength and the possible addition of a defender and goalkeeper in january this could be our year. fingers crossed!
