Arsenal Team News & Injury Update: Wenger Gives Latest Ahead Of Dortmund Game

Arsenal take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday looking to go one step closer to the knockout stages. Here’s the latest team news.

Arsenal take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night looking to go one step closer to securing safe passage to the knockout stages.

The Gunners head into the game in fine form having moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 4-1 win over Norwich on Saturday, so should be full of confidence as they take on last years losing finalists.

Boss Arsene Wenger has been in front of the media on Monday morning for his pre-match press conference and gave the latest team news including an update on the fitness of midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

The Frenchman was substituted in the first half against the Canaries after a clash of heads left him with concussion and Wenger has confirmed that the clubs doctor has advised they enforce the five day rule for this injury meaning Flamini won’t be in contention tomorrow.

His absence is likely to see Aaron Ramsey return to the starting line-up to play alongside Mikel Arteta in midfield. Otherwise, Arsenal have no new injury concerns to contend with but Wenger did hint he may mix things up a little bit.

Here’s what Wenger told the clubs official website today:

on Mathieu Flamini…

He is doing well. He has practised normally but we will not play him because there is a five-day rule that we will respect. We will not to take any chances. It was a concussion and the doctor advised us not to play him. He will be OK for the weekend.

on other changes and possible rotation…

A little bit yes, certainly, but I leave myself 24 hours until tomorrow [Tuesday] afternoon to decide that.

With the team in such fine form, you’d think he’ll keep changes to a minimum but the one switch we might see is Tomas Rosicky coming in for Santi Cazorla with the Spaniard still not 100% match fit after making his first start on Saturday in over 6 weeks.

What would be your preferred starting line-up? Leave your suggestions below.

Flamini the unsung hero and the signing of the season by a mile, not Ozil. It baffles me how Arsenal fans don’t give him the accolades he deserves. I hope we don’t pay for his absence against Dortmund.

Within the Arsenal community Flamini is not unsung at all.

He is getting every bit as much praise as Ozil and maybe even Ramsey.

There were a few people with doubts, but it only took 1 game for them to be completely eliminated.

Nobody can ignores importance of Flamini, but I am wondering that people does not give any credit to Wenger for bring him back to the club!!! Flamini has shown us how important or maybe more important is for us than Ozil, don’t misunderstand me Ozil is fantastic but we had already strong midfield and he has made us more strong, but Flamini is what we always cried for and he is essence of our defend. What I wish, is one more like him in winter transfer window.

Flamini will be missed dearly but the docters’ rule shud be respected.i feel arteta will fill flamini shoes tho not wholy but with ramsey’s support no worry with his current form..i wilsh wenger brings in gnably in latter stages of the game.i believe the boy can cause alot of trouble to the wenger we trust.Nyaga-Kenya.
