Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Liverpool are ready to battle Spurs for Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool are ready to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of £15m-rated FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah, according to the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old has been in excellent form for the Swiss champions this season including an eye-catching display during a shock 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League last month.
Salah has also impressed on the international stage with his six goals helping Egypt in their bid to reach to 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Mail claim Andre Villas-Boas was alerted to his potential last season when they met Basel in the Europa League and has been keeping a close eye on his progress ever since, with the Spurs boss understood to have asked Basel to let him know if they decide to cash in this January.
But it seems the north Londoners are now facing stiff competition for his signature from domestic rivals Liverpool with the newspaper suggesting Brendan Rodgers is ready to make his move for the speedy winger as he looks to add to his squad this winter to help maintain the Merseysiders surprise title push.
However, the duo will have to dig deep if they want to lure Salah to England, with the report stating that Basel won’t let their star man leave on the cheap and will demand £15m for his services.
