Liverpool travel south to the capital to take on leaders Arsenal on Saturday. Here’s the latest news on Coutinho and Enrique’s fitness from Brendan Rodgers.
Liverpool travel south to the capital to take on league leaders Arsenal on Saturday evening looking to leapfrog the Gunners into top spot.
Ahead of the game, boss Brendan Rodgers has been in front of the media giving his pre-match press conference and gave Liverpoolfc.com the latest team news including the latest on Philippe Coutinho and Jose Enrique’s fitness.
Coutinho hasn’t featured since undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury that he picked up against Swansea City last month. However, the Brazilian attacker has been training with the first team in recent days and Rodgers has confirmed he is now back in the squad to face Arsenal and in contention to start.
Left-back Enrique has missed the last two games through injury and remains a doubt for the trip to the Emirates. Rodgers told the clubs official website:
“Jose will be a question mark for the weekend, but Coutinho is great.
“He’s been given the all clear by the specialist to come in.
“He’s been training for the last few weeks, so he’ll come back into the squad.”
Liverpool head into the weekend action sitting joint-second in the table, just two points behind Arsenal, so can jump above their rivals with a win in Saturday’s late kick-off.
