Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Liverpool are linked with a £10m move for Andre Ayew while Manchester United eye a Polish starlet.
Liverpool want Ayew
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Liverpool are leading the chase for £10m-rated Marseille attacker Andre Ayew.
Marseille have endured a difficult start to the new season in Ligue 1 and are on the brink of crashing out of the Champions League after losing all three group games so far, and their fate could be sealed tomorrow with defeat away at Napoli.
Ayew has just 18 months left on his current contract and the Mirror claim Marseille are now ready to cash in as they don’t want him to get to June when he may decide to run down the final year of his deal and leave for nothing the following summer.
The newspaper suggests that Liverpool are leading Newcastle in the chase for the 23-year-old with Brendan Rodgers understood to be keen on luring the Ghana international to the Premier League to boost his sides title push.
Ayew is a versatile player who is capable of playing anywhere across the front-line so would give Rodgers plenty of options in attack if he does end up making the move to Anfield.
United eye Linetty
Next up and the Mirror are also reporting that Manchester United are showing strong interest in Polish starlet Karol Linetty.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of Poland’s hottest properties after breaking into the Lech Poznan first team this season and has put in some assured display’s in midfield.
The Mirror claim United boss David Moyes has been sending scouts to keep an eye on the youngster this season, with representatives from Old Trafford believed to be among 40 scouts who were at Poznan’s game last weekend.
While the scouts were disappointed to learn that Linetty was left on the bench – perhaps to keep him from impressing the onlooking contingent of scouts – the newspaper suggests that Moyes remains keen to take him to Manchester and is desperate to land him in January.
Poznan know the interest in Linetty is growing and the report claims they will demand in the region of £4m for their starlet this winter.
