Arsenal are lining-up another move for Lyon attacker Clement Grenier despite the player rejecting a £6m move to the Emirates in the summer, according to the Express.

The French international was strongly linked with a £6m move to Arsenal in July but the 22-year-old opted to remain at the Stade de Gerland and sign a new contract.

The Express claim Arsene Wenger has continued to monitor the player this season and has not given up hope of luring him to north London, with the Frenchman believed to be ready to take advantage of Lyon’s financial problems and make another attempt to sign Grenier when the transfer window re-opens in January.

While the winger signed a new deal with Lyon in the summer, he hinted he may be tempted by a future move to Arsenal. When asked about the potential of joining the Gunners one day, he said in August:

“I have a contract which now runs until 2016. We’ll see what happens here in a year. Anyway, I told the President that whatever happens, I will not leave my club for free.” Grenier is quoted as saying by the Mail

Arsenal already have a wealth of midfield talent in their squad but many feel the north Londoners lack natural width at times and Grenier would certainly fill that particular void.

Whether Wenger would be successful in luring him to the Premier League mid-season remains to be seen, particularly in the World Cup year, but it seems the Gunners boss is ready to try his luck again this winter.
