Mourinho Eyes Ambitious £60m Move For Falcao

Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea are ready to try again for Radamel Falcao.

Colombia Radamel Falcao

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will watch Radamel Falcao in action against Belgium this week ahead of a £60m bid for the Colombian hitman, according to the Mirror.

The Blues were strongly linked with a move for the 27-year-old in the summer before he eventually signed for big-spending Monaco, where he’s continued his deadly goal-scoring form with 12 goals in his first 16 appearances this season.

The Mirror claim that Mourinho is hoping to solve his striker problems by signing a world class number 9 and is ready to try his luck at landing Falcao when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The newspaper says that the Portuguese coach will personally watch the former Atletico Madrid striker in action for his country this week before giving the green light to a British record £60m move.

Pulling off this amazing coup is not going to be easy though, as Monaco are going to be reluctant to sell, but the report suggests that Falcao has already been showing signs of discontent in France and may be open to a switch to the Premier League.

Chelsea have endured a mixed season so far with the major problem being a consistent goal threat up front. Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba have scored just 3 league goals between them this season so a prolific goal-scorer like Falcao would be a huge asset as the Blues look to lift the title this season.

The Colombian has the added bonus of being eligible to play in the Champions League during the second half of the season, so he would certainly be a major signing if Mourinho could somehow pull it off.
