Arsenal and Chelsea face stiff competition from Fiorentina for highly-rated Brazilian playmaker Jorginho, according to talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form in Serie A this season, scoring 5 goals in 12 games to help Verona off to a positive start back in the top flight after playing a key role in their promotion push last year.

Understandably, the Brazilian appears to be attracting interest and the player himself claimed last month that scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea were in the stands to see him put two past Parma.

“In the match against Parma there were scouts from teams like Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Maybe if I keep playing well I can show exactly what I’m worth.” Jorginho is quoted as saying by the Express.

However, the London duo look to have stiff competition from within Italy with talkSPORT claiming today that Fiorentina are set to make a move for the playmaker when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Boss Vincenzo Montella is believed to want to add a goal-scoring midfielder to his ranks this winter and the report suggests the former Italian international striker sees Jorginho as a more realistic option than other target such as Marco Verratti of Paris Saint German or Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie.

So if Arsene Wenger or Jose Mourinho have any intention of making their supposed interest official, they might need to act fast or risk missing out on the talented youngster.
