Liverpool & Spurs Tipped To Up Interest In Striker As Contract Talks Get Underway
Liverpool and Tottenham will step up their interest in Vlamir Berisha after learning that his current club Halmstads have opened talks over a new deal.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Liverpool and Spurs are tipped to step up their interest in Valmir Berisha.
Liverpool and Tottenham will step up their interest in Swedish starlet Vlamir Berisha over the coming weeks after learning that his current club Halmstads have opened talks over a new deal, according to the Daily Star.
Berisha burst onto the scene last month with a hat-trick for the Swedish under-17’s during a 4-1 win over Argentina at the World Cup in Abu Dhabi, while he also hit the headlines after scoring a stunning back-heel int he semi-final against Honduras.
It appears he’s caught the eye of clubs in the Premier League with the Daily Star claiming that Liverpool and Spurs are keen on luring him to England and hoped to snap him up for as little as £500,000 due to the value of his current youth contract.
However, Halmstads sporting director Mikael Kaller is looking to fend off interest in the 17-year-old by tying him down to a new contract and has confirmed negotiations are already underway with the player and his agent.
“We have begun discussions with Valmir and his agent,”
“Then it ends with us or he goes somewhere else, I do not know.
“But Valmir is a great talent, he was great in Under-17 World Cup and it is obvious that we would like to see him still with us.” Kaller is quoted as saying by the Star.
This news has apparently alerted Liverpool and Spurs with the report suggesting that the Premier League duo will now step up their interest in the starlet to try and persuade him to make the switch to England now rather than continue his development in Sweden.
The newspaper also states that Berisha’s agent, Anders Karlsson, said last week that as well as interest from England, the striker had admirers across all Europe, so Halmstads are going to have a fight on their hands to keep hold of him and it seems Brendan Rodgers and Andre Villas-Boas face some stiff competition to secure his signature.
