Chelsea Braced For Barcelona Raid

Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Barcelona are linked with Ramires.

Chelsea are bracing themselves for interest in Ramires from Barcelona after the Spanish giants identified the Brazilian as a summer transfer target, according to the Mirror.

The Catalans may remain one of the best teams in the world and sit top of the La Liga table with 12 wins from their opening 13 fixtures, but it seems they aren’t fully satisfied with their squad and are already making plans for next summers recruitment drive.

The Mirror claims that boss Tata Martino has met with sporting director Andoni Zubizaretta and compiled a three-man short-list of midfield targets, with Ramires a shock name on the list.

The report suggests that the Spaniard’s want a hard-working midfielder to compliment their more creative stars and Ramires is being targetted along with Juventus’ Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal as well as Atletico Madrid’s Spanish international Koke.

However, any deal for the Chelsea man is likely to be extremely difficult to pull off. The Brazilian is under contract until 2017 and has been a huge success since making the move to Stamford Bridge from Benfica three years ago, winning the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League during his time at the club.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is likely to resist any attempts to lure the 26-year-old away, particularly from his old foes Barcelona, so unless the player pushes for a move it’s difficult to see this coming to anything.
