Liverpool and Manchester United were among the clubs who sent scouts to once again watch Ryan Gauld in action for Dundee United on Saturday afternoon, according to Mirror.

The 17-year-old has been earning rave reviews north of the border for his attacking displays, leading to some hailing him as the ‘Scottish Messi’.

The newspaper claims that Liverpool, United, Newcastle, Everton and Real Madrid have all been keeping a close eye on the youngster this season, and Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes once again sent scouts to run-the-rule over the attacking midfielder on Saturday.

The representatives would have been impressed with what they saw as Gauld provided four assists during a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle, and the Mirror suggest Dundee United are demanding £6m for his services ahead of potential interest when the January transfer window re-opens.
