Arsenal have beating Spurs to the signing of Alvaro Morata after agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign striker on a six-month loan deal this January, according to reports.

The 21-year-old is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Spain but is finding first team football hard to come by at the Bernabeu, leading to speculation he could be set for a move.

While Morata has managed to score two goals from his nine substitute appearances, he’s made just one start so far this season with boss Carlo Ancelotti understandably preferring to go with the likes of Kari Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in attack.

Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal and Spurs have been showing a keen interest in bringing the youngster to the Premier League with the promise of more regular first team action.

However, it appears the Gunners have won the race with the Daily Star one of several media outlets who are claiming that Morata has opted to move to the Emirates after Ancelotti gave his blessing for the striker to leave on loan in January.

The newspaper says the move is now agreed by all parties and the player will move to the red half of north London next month and provide competition to Olivier Giroud up front during the second half of the season.

If true, this will represent something of a coup for Wenger and Morata’s arrival could be the difference in Arsenal sustaining their push for the Premier League title.

The young striker has an excellent record in the Spanish under-21 side, scoring 11 goals in 12 games, so he should certainly provide the Gunners with added firepower in attack if he does end up moving to the club this winter.
