The agent of Turkish starlet Hakan Calhanoglu has claimed that Arsenal will make a big for the midfielder over the coming weeks, but Liverpool are also keen.
With the January transfer window just around the corner, managers will be working hard to identify potential new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest Liverpool and Arsenal transfer rumours and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Hakan Calhanoglu.
The agent of Turkish starlet Hakan Calhanoglu has claimed that Arsenal will make a bid for the midfielder over the coming weeks, but Liverpool are also thought to be monitoring the players situation, according to talkSPORT.
Calhanoglu has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Germany after breaking into the Hamburg first team this season, with the attacking midfielder cementing himself as a first team regular and has netted four goals in 15 games so far this campaign.
Recent reports have strongly linked Arsenal with the 19-year-old while Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is also understood to have sent scouts to keep a close eye on the youngsters progress.
The players agent, Bektas Demirtas, has now confirmed Arsenal’s interest and claims Arsene Wenger will make a formal offer for the starlet either this month or in January when the transfer window re-opens.
However, it seems the Gunners may have their work cut out in trying to persuade Calhanoglu to make the switch to north London, as Demirtas went on to reveal that his client would prefer to continue his development at Hamburg.
“We know of Arsenal’s interest. I think they will make a concrete move in December or January. Hakan and Hamburg has been a success story – our wish is that he stays here and continues to evolve.” Demirtas is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
Calhanoglu was born in Germany but is of Turkish decent and has already made his senior debut for the Turkey international team. His impressive form this season has attracted interest from the Premier League and although the players seems settled at Hamburg, a move to England could still happen next month.
Bert van Marwijk’s men are currently sitting mid-table in the Bundesliga and appear unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season, so the club’s hierarchy may decided now is the time to cash-in on one of their most prized assets and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
