Aston Villa vs Man Utd: Predicted Starting XI’s – Who Will Replace Injured RVP?

By on December 13, 2013

Manchester United take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon hoping to close in on the top four.

The Champions have received a blow with the news that Robin van Persie will be out for the next month with a thigh strain. The Dutchman picked up the injury when taking the corner that led to Phil Jones’ winner against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek.

His absence leaves boss David Moyes will a huge void to fill and it’s likely that Wayne Rooney will play up front on his own after serving a one-match domestic ban last week. The Englishman is expected to be supported by Shinji Kagawa in attack, while Danny Welbeck and Antonio Valencia could also return.

Chris Smalling is a doubt so Rafael is likely to continue at right-back, but Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic should return from minor knocks that kept them out in midweek.

Aston Villa will be without influential midfield Fabian Delph after he picked up five yellow cards, so Aleksandar Tonev could come in.
