Chelsea In Talks Over £32m Double Deal

Chelsea are ready to do a double deal with Benfica worth £32million for the signing of midfielder’s Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic, according to reports today

With the January transfer window just around the corner, managers will be working hard to identify potential new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with a double raid on Benfica.

Chelsea are ready to do a double deal with Benfica worth £32million for the signing of midfielder’s Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic, according to the Mirror.

Benfica are currently in a cash crisis which is expected to see them sell several of their more valuable assets when the transfer window re-opens next month, and it appears Chelsea could be ready to take advantage.

The Mirror claims that the Portuguese clubs financial woes has seen them sound out Chelsea about the possibility of a double deal involving long-term targets Matic and Markovic with the duo valued at around £32m.

The newspaper suggests that the two clubs are already in talks over Serbian winger Markovic and a £12m deal could be struck for the highly-rated 19-year-old with the agreement that he would stay on loan with Benfica for the rest of the season.

The youngster made his name at Partizan Belgrade and was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer before he eventually sealed a switch the Portugal.

The report also states that the West Londoners are interested in re-signing midfielder Matic, who moved to Benfica from Chelsea as part of the deal that saw David Luiz move to the Bridge in 2011.

The Serbian only made a handful of appearances in England but has excelled in the Portuguese league and the Mirror claim that Benfica are willing to do business for £20m after they were knocked out of the Champions League.

It would certainly be an excellent double-deal if Jose Mourinho could pull it off. Matic is a bit of an all-rounder who is  ready to come straight in to the squad and fight for a first team place in midfield.

Markovic on the other hand is a hugely talented youngster who could remain at Benfica to develop further before returning to London in the summer and push for a place in Mourinho’s plans. Let’s see how this one develops as we head into January…

I don’t think we need more attacking midfielder now if we still plays like L piazon , KDB, Mata, Oscar and a lot more in the acadamy. I think we jst need holding M.fieldr Defender & a striker.

Mourinho would be a grt fool if he sells mata, and let me sound a note of warning; plz offset essien, lampard, cole, etoo, Ba. bring in there replacement immediately. Chelsea doesnt a player like mata . His absence caused us Arsenal draw.

Our midfielders hardly pass to their respective centre forward, no matter the quality of striker we buy they would always get starved of the ball and at the end, get frustrated. If u talk about Drogba apart from the fact that he’s black (hustler) , he’s been there for long to understand the psychology of these players.

I don’t tink we nid sum1 lyk does 2 midfilder mourinho want to buy,if he buy dem it is nt 2 bad,we ar goin to see dier work when we land them.i tink we nid 2 polific striker dat will not waste our goals lyk diago costa in atletico madrid, javi martinez in porto fc or lawandoski in dotmund f.c.
