Arsenal Make Formal Enquiry For £33m Goal Machine

Arsenal have stepped up their search for a new striker by making a formal enquiry for a goal-machine who has a £33m buy-out clause. Find out who he is here.

With the January transfer window now open for business clubs will be working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Arsenal step up their interest in Jackson Martinez.

Arsenal ave stepped up their interest in Jackson Martinez by making a formal enquiry about the striker’s availability in case a loan deal for Alvaro Morata cannot be agreed, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners need for a striker intensified this week following the news that Theo Walcott would miss the rest of the season after rupturing a cruciate ligament in his left knee during Saturday’s FA Cup win over Tottenham.

Reports claim north London chiefs have opened talks with Real Madrid over taking young striker Alvaro Morata on a six-month loan, but the La Liga giants are believed to be opposed to letting the 21-year-old leave this month.

This has led to Arsene Wenger looking at alternatives and the Mail suggest that while the Frenchman would love to sign Atletico Madrid hitman Diego Costa, he understands a deal will be extremely difficult to pull off so he has now made a formal enquiry to Porto over the availability of Jackson Martinez.

The 27-year-old has continued his excellent goal-scoring form this season with 12 goals in just 14 games, but he won’t come cheap with the newspaper stating his buy-out clause is worth just over £33m.

Martinez recently admitted that he would jump at the chance of moving to the Emirates after revealing he supported the club as a youngster:

“I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,” he said.

“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.

“If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.” Martinez is quoted as saying by the Mirror

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League after 20 games but their season is at risk of being derailed due to a lack of options up front, and it appears Wenger is working hard behind the scenes at trying and bring in some much-needed fire-power for the season half of the season.

Why not get Luis Muriel? He’s going to become the next Falcao for Colimbia, and at 21 with gis speed, dribbling, and finish he would be a welcomed asset. Plus imagine howd he develop under Wenger, he plays for Udinese.

Both Murel and Morata are out of my option. We need a striker that will not be expected to take much time to make an impact. If i should say my mind, i’ll like to see someone like Michu coming in.

fans it has nothing to do with emotions. Transfers are business transactions that are more complicated than just showing seriousness. The club that sells has to want to sell as much as the buying club and the player. No club would want to sell a player who is currently doing well unless the club has nothing to play for. Athletico Madrid would be foolish to sell Diego Costa when they are competing for the title. We have to try for players that can help us maintain our form until

@Matt, you should be able to understand that Atletico made a mistake by inserting a buy-out clause in Costa’s contract. In doing that, they must sell if a club triggers that clause. Arsenal can surely sign him if they manage to convince him that his future lies in London. If the player accepts to move and Arsenal accept to pay what was inserted in his contract, Atletico will have no powers to stop the deal going through.

Buying a good sriker like Diego Costa in January is not going to be easy. Athletico madrid will not listen to any offer. It is like asking Arsnal fc to sell for example Ramsey. Wenger should go for Jackson of fc Porto he is good striker who can do a fine job for us too.

Wenger should go for Diego or Jackson let Wenger put down $38.5m for Diego Madrid will accept it because to me Deigo is just 25Years old and Jackson is already 27 Years old and his price is more than what to paid for Diego we donut need any useless striker for now we need Striker who will take us to the promising Land we must win something this season.

Out of the three players I prefer Diago Costa, but I dont see it working out this january, Morata could have been the best option on loan, but madrid is not agreeing, and so arsenal should just go for Jackson. Wenger must sign a good stricker, if he wants to win a title this season. Gunners 4ever.

It’s hard to get a top striker in january, all of the best are playing in the champions league and contending for championship titles in their respective leagues. Costa will be a tough ask and the rest will take time to settle in the epl as it has been prooved in the past when we need them to hit the ground running…for me bite the bullet,,,suarez, 70m he won’t be cup tied in the champions lge and the epl title will be ours.
