Borussia Dortmund are scouting highly-rated Arsenal attacker Serge Gnabry ahead of a potential summer swoop, according to reports today.

The 18-year-old has broken into the Gunners first team set-up this season and earned rave reviews for his excellent performance against Tottenham Hotspur during Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup win at the Emirates.

It appears he’s caught the eye of Dortmund with the Mirror citing reports coming out of Germany that claim Jurgen Klopp has sent his scouts to watch Gnabry on several occasions already this season ahead of a potential summer bid.

The Dortmund coach is on the look-out for attacking reinforcements after it was confirmed Robert Lewandowksi is joining Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and the newspaper states that he could make a move for Gnabry at the end of the season.

The German under-19 international is a winger as opposed to a target man, so would certainly not be considered as a like-for-like replacement for Lewandowski, but the report suggests that Klopp has already hinted he’ll bring in a different type of player to the Polish hitman.

However, I really don’t think Arsenal fans have anything to worry about. Gnabry is tied to a long-term contract and Arsene Wenger is highly unlikely to cash in on a player who’s not reached anywhere near his full potential yet.

With Theo Walcott ruled out for the rest of the season, the youngster is expected to get far more game time during the second half of the campaign, so he has an excellent opportunity to stake a claim for a regular first team berth.
