Arsenal beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Monday night thanks to first half goals from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud.

The win saw the Gunners not only maintain the best away record in the division, but also mean they leapfrogged Manchester City and Chelsea to go back to the top of the Premier League table.

After the game, several Arsenal players including Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aron Ramsey took to Twitter to react to the victory with many taking the chance to welcome The Ox back following his extended time on the sidelines.

The young midfielder has missed practically the entire season so far after injuring his knee on the opening day of the season, but made his first team comeback last night as he came on as a late second half substitute.

German play-maker Mesut Ozil praised the ‘important win’ while also congratulating his former Real Madrid team mate Cristiano Ronaldo on winning the Ballon d’Or Award on Monday.

The players seem to be enjoying themselves this season and the feel-good factor around the squad is certainly having a positive effect on the pitch. Let’s hope it continues as the season goes on.

Here is what the Arsenal boys had to say on Twitter after the game:

A good result of three point, but we need to strenghten the team, so as to stand up strong with the ragues of the remaining games, if we truely want to win the league this season. Gunners 4ever.
