With the January transfer window now open for business clubs will be working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest  news, gossip and rumours. Today, Liverpool are weighing up a move for Gokhan Inler and Tottenham are linked with Karl Darlow.

Liverpool keen on Napoli midfielder

First up and talkSPORT are reporting that Liverpool are keen on Napoli’s midfield enforcer Gokhan Inler and are considering making a bid at the end of the season.

The Reds have been something of a surprise package this season, with Brendan Rodgers men battling it out in the top four and could even be considered an outside bet for the Premier League title.

However, it appears Rodgers isn’t content with his squad and is still on the look-out for further reinforcements, with the report suggesting he is keeping a close eye on Inler ahead of a potential summer move.

Lucas Leiva and Steven Gerrard have formed a solid central midfield partnership but with the 33-year-old Reds skipper approaching his twilight years and few potential replacement coming through the youth ranks, it’s not a surprise Rodgers is looking to strengthen in the middle of the park and Inler would be an excellent addition.

However, the 29-year-old Swiss international is currently a key component in Rafa Bentiez’s side – starting in every game so far this season – so Liverpool may find it difficult trying to persuade the Italian’s to sell if they do end up trying their luck in the summer.

Tottenham eye Darlow

Next up and the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing highly-rated Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Hugo Lloris is certain to be the Spurs No.1 for the foreseeable future after being a hugely impressive figure between the sticks since making the move from Lyon 18 months ago, but it seems boss Tim Sherwood is keen on bringing in a new No.2.

Current back-up keeper, Brad Friedel, will be 43 at the end of the season while Heurelho Gomes has fallen out-of-favour and has barely been used since losing his first team place over two years ago, so it would make sense for the north Londoners to be planning ahead.

The Mirror claim that Sherwood has been keeping a close eye on Darlow’s progress and could propose a deal where Spurs secure his signature now but loan him back to Forest for the rest of the season.

While Darlow only recently signed a new deal at the City Ground, this deal could be tempting for Forest as it would mean the player would be available to help their promotion push during the second half of the campaign.

The 23-year-old has been excellent in goal this season and has been tipped by many to be a potential future England international, so he’d certainly be one for the future if Tottenham were able to secure a deal.
