Was It Arsenal Or Liverpool Who Had €20m Striker Bid Rejected?

According to FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti, Real Madrid have rejected a mammoth €20million offer from England for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alvaro Morata.

With the January transfer window now open for business clubs will be working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Real Madrid reject a big-money bid for Alvaro Morata.

Alvaro Morata

According to FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti, Real Madrid have rejected a €20m (£16.5) offer from England for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alvaro Morata.

Morata has been one of the most talked about players so far during the January transfer window, with several clubs throughout Europe credited with an interest.

Arsenal were believed to be the early favourites to sign the 21-year-old on loan with Arsene Wenger supposedly keen on taking him to the Emirates as cover from Olivier Giroud during the second half of the season.

The Gunners soon faced competition from Liverpool, with reports suggesting Brendan Rodgers had made a move to hijack the north Londoners loan bid, while Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan are the latest clubs to be linked with the striker.

However, despite the interest in Morata’s signature, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has remained insistent the youngster wouldn’t be allowed to leave the Bernabeu this month and it appears he’s been true to his word.

FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti claims that Madrid have turned down a €20m offer from an unnamed English club for Morata,  with Ancelotti said to be ‘crazy’ about the player and sees him as a part of his future plans.

Bronzetti told Mediaset:

“Ancelotti is crazy about Morata, and he’s in his plans for the future.

“So much so that, a few days ago, he said no to a €20m offer from a team in England.”

If Bronzetti’s claims are accurate, it would suggest that either Arsenal or Liverpool are the club in question based on the fact they are the two English clubs who have been most linked with Morata in recent days.

Of course another club could have entered the chase, and both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers have been reportedly favouring a loan move, but the smart money would be on either the Gunners or the Merseysiders tabling this offer in my opinion.

Wenger showed he’s not scarred to spend big on the right player in the summer and he desperately needs another option in attack – particularly now Theo Walcott has been ruled out for the season through injury.

Rodgers’ need for another front-man is perhaps less obvious considering he has two of the most in-form strikers in the Premier League, if not Europe, in Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, but you wouldn’t put it past them investing heavily in a hot prospect like Morata.

The striker hasn’t featured for Madrid in their last four La Liga games and when he does play, it’s usually a cameo appearance from the bench, so you wouldn’t blame him if he wanted out this month in search of regular playing time. Particularly with the World Cup coming up.

But with Madrid apparently turning down a big offer, it seems they are intent on keeping hold of Morata so any chance of a move to England looks dead and buried….for now.
