Samuel Eto’o was the hero for the Blues, scoring all three goals to put the home side 3-0 ahead before Javier Hernandez grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.
The win moves Chelsea back within touching distance at the top, but another defeat for United leaves David Moyes men way down in seventh – a full 14 points off the leading pack.
