Mata Misses Training And Prepares For Medical As Man Utd Table Formal £35m Bid

By on January 22, 2014

With the January transfer window in full flow clubs are working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Juan Mata’s move to Man Utd edged even closer.

Chelsea's Juan Mata

There have been significant developments in Juan Mata’s proposed move to Manchester United this afternoon.

Earlier today it was reported in several media outlets that Chelsea had softened their stance and were now prepared to sell Mata to United as long as the player informed boss Jose Mourinho that he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge.

The BBC are now claiming that United have formalised their interest in the form of a £35m bid which has been submitted via a third party intermediary, and while this initial offer is expected to be rejected with Chelsea holding out for at least £40m, a deal is still expected to be reached.

The Telegraph are also reporting that a formal bid has been submitted, and suggest the 25-year-old missed training today and is preparing himself for a medical, with his advisers, including his father, flying over from Spain this afternoon with the aim of tying up the move within the next 48 hours.

Apparent ‘sources’ have told the newspaper that negotiations are at the final stage with just “two or three” details left to resolve, presumably one being the sale price!

It’s going to be a huge boost to the champions if they can tie up a deal for the Spanish international after a disappointing start to life under David Moyes. Mata will of course be unavailable in the Champions League but will be on hand to help the club push for at least a top-four finish in the Premier League.

This story is progressing all the time and the more details that emerge the more it looks like Juan Mata will become a United player before the end of the month.

No need for the fight or cry mata should go n play Rooney n his case are different I am a Chelsea fan. But think we have too much talent n we need an attacker so selling mata will help us get an attacker plus we will be save concerning the FIFA fair play rule
