Chelsea Trying To Hijack Liverpool’s Salah Move After Submitting £10m Bid

Chelsea are trying to hijack Liverpool’s move for Mohamed Salah after submitting a £10m bid to FC Basel for the highly-rated winger, according to the Metro.

Salah has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks and reports earlier on Wednesday suggested the Merseysiders were closing in on his signature after apparently agreeing a £10m deal with Basel.

The Express are one of several newspapers who are claiming that the 21-year-old was due to arrive in England on Friday before heading to Melwood to undergo a medical and put pen-to-paper over a long-term contract.

However, it seems that move could now be under threat with the Metro reporting that Chelsea have made a late bid to try and hijack the move by submitting a £10m offer of their own.

The newspaper suggests that Jose Mourinho has identified the Egyptian international as the ideal replacement for Juan Mata – who is close to completing a big-money move to Manchester United – with the Portuguese coach seemingly unwilling to let the Spaniard leave until someone else is brought in.

The news will come as a concern to Reds boss Brendan Rodgers who is desperate to bring Salah to Anfield to help their push for a top-four finish this season, with the club currently sitting fourth in the Premier League after 22 games.

Salah has enjoyed a hugely impressive 18 months in Switzerland with Basel and it seems he left a lasting impression on Chelsea after scoring in both games against them in the Champions League group stages.

The Blues has previous when it comes to late hijacks as they famously gazumped Tottenham to the signing of Willian in the summer, and Liverpool fans will be praying the don’t manage to pull off the same trick again this time around.

I had to comment, the biggest fart was just coming out of people’s mouths. OKay. Mata, is Chelsea’s strongest player, easily. 1. JM is selling him, okay yes, if he doesn’t fit in the setup..okay, however. 2.Selling to a rival for top 4. Now, if I were mata, I would get off to a flyer for my new club and make JM regret selling me to be honest. Cause what Jose has done is give Man U the well needed creativity and finesse a complete rejuvenation in their midfield. Mata will leave a whole in Chelsea’s team, that will become more and more apparent as the season will go on. The Salah deal, is spite, in my opinion. Hijacking deals is harsh. Apparently Salah wants to come to Liverpool, so let him. Jose won’t even be able to offer Salah regular football. With Hazard, Oscar, Willian, etc. It doesn’t look appealing for Salah. At least at Liverpool, Rodgers is kind to giving to youth first team chances, Salah, I know would be a hit and he would establish himself quite quickly.

I wont ever understand Jose’s though of doing that sale. Ever. It just doesn’t make sense. No manager is perfect. None. Every one make mistakes. I call those two deals mentioned mistakes. It annoyed me, the fact the Liverpool had spent half the window and before that even, trying to speed up the deal to get done as quickly as possible, it’s all over the news, but Jose decides, as if a miracle, decides Salah, who is a winger and not needed at Chelsea, is a fine replacement for Mata. G wtf G…

Chelsea look as if he did nt like liverpool, any player Liverpool goes 4 they too will also go,but i blame rodgers who is sluggish in pricing and buying players.

    January 23, 2014 at 11:55 am

If liverpool will make it to top 4 let rodgers buy key players now otherwise he won’t reach there and he will lose key payers.to important quality clubs.
