Draxler ‘Desperate’ To Join Arsenal This Month As Clubs Agree Fee For German Star
Julian Draxler’s proposed move to Arsenal is edging ever closer with the midfielder depserate to make the switch after the Gunners agreed a fee with Schalke
With the January transfer window in full flow clubs are working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Arsenal’s move for Julian Draxler edges closer.
Julian Draxler’s proposed move to Arsenal is edging ever closer with the midfielder understood to be ‘desperate’ to make the switch to north London amid reports the Gunners have agreed a fee with Schalke.
Following weeks of speculation, news broke from Germany late on Friday night that Arsenal had finally made a break-through and had reached an agreement with Schalke for the signature of Draxler.
Former Middlesbrough striker Jan Aage Fjortoft – who’s now an agent and pundit for Sky Germany – Tweeted the news last night.
Re: Draxler I understand that Schalke and Arsenal have agreed a fee. If he will leave now I don't know. But this is latest info #afc

Obviously this caused quite the stir on social media networks but Fjortoft was quick to point out that he didn’t know whether the move could go through this month or in the summer.
However, the Mirror are claiming that Draxler is ‘desperate’ to push through the move before the transfer window closes at the end of January and doesn’t want to wait until the end of the season.
All this comes after widespread reports last week suggested that Arsenal had sent a delegation over to Germany to hold formal discussions with the Bundesliga outfit, and it appears they could have finally found an agreement to sign the highly-rated 20-year-old.
Arsene Wenger remained coy after last night’s 4-0 win over Coventry and insisted there was no news regarding their pursuit of Draxler, but the Frenchman is notorious for playing his cards close to his chest.
It certainly seems like this deal is in the pipe-line and it could all come down to whether we can persuade Schalke to sell now or put a deal in place for the summer.

We could certainly do with having him on board to help our title push during the second half of the season, but Schalke are still in the Champions League so are likely to be reluctant to let him go just yet.
