[Video Goals] Stoke 2-1 Man Utd: Adam Wonder Strike Sinks United

By on February 1, 2014

Manchester United’s woes returned as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts took the lead when Charlie Adam’s long-range free kick deflected in off Michael Carrick before Juan Mata sent Robin van Persie clear to fire United level just after half time. Stoke restored their lead five minutes later when Adam was on hand to smash home from the edge of the box and it turned out to be the winner as United were unable to find a way back.

The result leaves United in seventh and fourth-placed Liverpool could extend their advantage to nine points with a win on Sunday.
