Premier League big-guns are gearing up for a €30m (£25m) transfer tussle this summer with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City all eyeing Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, according to the Daily Mail.

The German international’s contract expires in less than 18 months time and his future is in serious doubt as talks over an extension continue to stall.

The Mail claims the 24-year-old is wanting a huge pay rise to join the likes of Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery on wages of around £150,000-a-week but Bayern have told him in no uncertain terms that they are unwilling to meet his demands.

Former German international Gunter Netzer feels Kroos is playing a risky game that could see him forced out of the Allianz Arena if he doesn’t back down.

‘I would advise Toni Kroos not to overplay his hand,’ he said. ‘There are a few players who cannot be replaced, but he is not one of them. He is playing a risky game at Bayern. The club are determined not to pay huge wages to all their players, in order to stay healthy financially.

‘This could become a situation where Kroos forces Bayern to set an example. He might be overrating himself a bit with his wage demands, in that they might not reflect his worth to the team. He would be wise to have a good look at the squad and rethink his situation.’ Netzer is quoted as saying by the Mail

Kroos was dropped for Sunday’s clash with Frankfurt on Sunday and didn’t even make it off the bench as Pep Guardiola’s men cruised to a 5-0 win to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 13 points.

His contract stand-off is in danger of spiraling out of control and the newspaper suggests that his situation has alerted the Premier League’s top clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City all understood to be keen on luring the £25m-rated midfielder to England if a solution isn’t found before the summer and have supposedly made it clear they are willing to meet his demands.

United boss David Moyes was reported to have been in the stands to watch Kroos in action against Borussia Monchengladbach last month and held talks with his agent about a potential switch to Old Trafford.

However, it seems the champions will have some stiff competition from their domestic rivals if the talented midfielder fails to commit his future to Bayern and comes on the market at the end of the season.

It would certainly be a major coup if any of the clubs manage to land him this summer as Kroos is one of the finest midfielders in Europe, but we’ll have to wait and see how his contract talks progress over the coming months.
