Wilshere, Giroud, Mertesacker + More: Players React On Twitter To Liverpool Loss

By on February 9, 2014

Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 5-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday to relinquish top spot in the Premier League table.

The hosts raced into a 4-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes thanks to goals from Martin Skrtel (2), Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge as the Gunners were unable to deal with the intensity of the Merseysiders play.

The second half was played out in second gear with Sterling making it 5-0 shortly after the break before Mikel Arteta grabbed a consolation. The result saw the Gunners slip to second after Chelsea beat Newcastle United but they managed to stay above Manchester City who were held by Norwich City.

After the game, some of the Arsenal players took to Twitter to apologise to the fans for their performance and vow to make things right when they take on Manchester United on Wednesday night at the Emirates.

Here’s what they had to say:

I must agree – it was a very, very bad performance from the Whole team. But until that game – we were number one for most of the season. So i refuse to believe that we suddenly are rubbish. We are at the present without players like Theo, Aaron and Flamini, with two of them coming back in time to make a difference later. Let us get our heads up Again – blow United away Wedensday – and we are back.

Poor Arsenal. great shame for the team. I couldn’t believe as Arsenal was at 1st stage for months looking what happened at An flied. But this is great indicator for Arsenal to wake up. I might have better feeling if Arsenal win Man united. Still I can see striker problem. I better advice A.Wenger to get in to the market to have better players. Wish all the best.

Honestly, I can’t see this team beating Man U or Bayern….our mid-field doesn’t work hard enough….Ozil needs to show why he costed us $40 million. I hate to say it but traitor RVP will probably score again on Wed night

It was really shameful for the whole team!why always we loose on big teams? Our players it seems they have an attitude of fearing big teams,Hence they should be strong again and get good results when facing Man u on wed night, otherwise if not we forget all the trophies.
