Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has claimed that Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris would be interested in making a sensational switch to the Emirates Stadium, according to the Mirror.

Lloris moved to White Hart Lane from Lyon in 2012 and has forged a reputation as one of the very best goalkeepers in the Premier League with his consistent displays.

However, the Mirror claim the 27-year-old will look to leave Spurs if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season and it appears he would be open to a move to their north London rivals.

Arsenal striker Giroud has revealed that he, along with fellow French international Laurent Koscielny, socialise with Lloris regularly and have asked him if he would like to join them at the Emirates with the keeper apparently admitting he would ‘quite like to’ make the switch to the Emirates.

Speaking to French TV last night, Giroud said:

“We go out together and talk about everything,”

“We talk about life and sometimes the French team a bit and our wish to have a great experience together at the World Cup.

“Have I asked him to join Arsenal? Yes, I have with Lolo (Laurent Koscielny). He would have liked to, he would quite like to. You will have to ask him the question.” Giroud is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

It would certainly be a controversial move if it ever did happen and it wouldn’t go down too well with the Tottenham faithful if Lloris was to pull on the Red & White of Arsenal.

However, I wouldn’t be getting too worried just yet, Spurs fans. For one thing, Arsenal don’t need a new goalkeeper so are highly unlikely to be interested if Lloris was looking to leave WHL. Wojciech Szczesny has been in excellent form this season and Arsene Wenger has shown a huge amount of faith in the young Pole, so he’s not likely to replace him any time soon.

Plus, Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday means they are still very-much in the hunt for that all-important top-four finish and Lloris won’t be going anywhere if Tim Sherwood can overhaul Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League.
