Agent Confirms Interest In Winger As Player Eyes Premier League Move

The agent of Sporting Lisbon winger Carlos Mane has confirmed there is interest from the Premier League and that the player would like to move to England.

The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, all the Premier League big guns are linked with Carlos Mane.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are all showing a keen interest in Sporting Lisbon’s highly-rated winger Carlos Mane, according to Sky Sports News.

The 19-year-old has emerged as a serious talent in Portugal after breaking into the Sporting first team this season where he’s gone on to score three goals in 11 appearances so far.

It appears his impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed around Europe with a number of clubs in the Premier League in particular seemingly showing an interest in bringing him to England.

Sky Sports claim that among the clubs keeping tabs on Mane are Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham with scouts understood to be in the stands to watch the youngster score the winner against Olhanense last weekend.

The players agent, Dan Chapman, has now confirmed there is interest in the Portuguese under-19 international from the Premier League as well as the Bundesliga and Serie A, but he suggests the players ‘ultimate goal’ is to move to England.

“Carlos is concentrating on maintaining a place in the Sporting first team,” Chapman told Sky Sports.

“2014 has started really well for him, and he has scored three goals so far, but we should not forget he has yet to make more than ten first-team appearances.

“He also enjoys a long-term contract at Sporting, they value him highly and so it is premature to be talking of a move.

“That said, I am aware of a number of clubs with real interest and who are keeping tabs on him, and it has to be said that whilst a move to the Premier League is the ultimate goal for Carlos at some point in the future – just one reason being that he has family in the UK already – some Bundesliga and Serie A clubs might appear to be more advanced in their interest at this stage.”

Mane is a pacey right winger who’s represented his country at every youth level from Under-15 through to Under-19 and he’s on course to win his first senior cap any time soon.

With the top Premiership clubs having large networks of scouts all over the world searching for new talent, it’s no surprise Mane has caught their eye, but there appears to be some serious competition for his signature and with the player tied down to a long-term contract, Sporting are under no pressure to sell.

The Portuguese club have a good track record for developing young players and they usually do end up selling their top talent, but it’s likely to take a sizeable offer to persuade them to cash in on Mane. However, if they do then it looks like the English big guns will be heading the race to sign him.
