Arsenal have been dealt a potential blow after Laurent Koscielny was forced to sit out Frances 2-0 friendly win over Holland on Wednesday night with a tight hamstring.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, the defender felt his hamstring during training with the French squad on Tuesday and was subsequently left out of the squad to face the Dutch.

The paper claims the 28-year-old has already had a scan and the initial results show there doesn’t appear to be any serious injury, but he’s now considered a doubt for Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Everton at the Emirates.

Thankfully Thomas Vermaelen is back in contention again having returned to the squad for last weekends loss at Stoke City, so the Belgian international will be available if needed, but the loss of Koscielny would be a major blow as his partnership with Per Mertesacker has been the foundation of our solid defence this season.

Jack Wilshere also took a knock to his foot during England’s 1-0 win over Denmark, so it looks like boss Arsene wenger is facing an anxious wait to see how his players return from international duty.

Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious, as the last thing we need is more injury problems ahead of a key run of games that will define our season.
