The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, more on the future of Robin van Persie.

Robin van Persie is unlikely to move to Chelsea and wants to make a sensational return to Arsenal this summer after becoming increasingly unsettled at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutchman’s future has been cast in doubt with recent reports suggesting the striker is growing increasingly frustrated with life at Old Trafford, and he fuelled the flames with his outburst following United’s 2-0 loss to Olympiakos in the Champions League last month where he branded the team as ‘lousy’ and said other players were ‘playing in his zones’.
The Mirror claimed last week that Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in bringing the disgruntled Holland international back to London this summer while reports in Italy suggested that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already met with the strikers agent to discuss a potential return to the Emirates.
The Daily Mail are now claiming that the 30-year-old’s preference would be make a shock move back to Arsenal with a switch to Stamford Bridge described as ‘unlikely’, while Juventus and AC Milan are ready to offer van Persie the chance to start afresh in Italy should a move back to north London prove too difficult to pull off.
Van Persie enjoyed an excellent first season at Old Trafford, scoring 30 goals in 48 appearances to help the Red Devils lift the Premier League title. However, things haven’t gone quite so well this year under the stewardship of David Moyes with niggling injuries restricting him to just 21 games and with United on course for their worse league finish in over 20 years, it seems the Dutchman could jump ship at the end of the season.
But could he really rejoin Arsenal? Many of the Emirates faithful still haven’t forgiven him for the way he left the club in 2012 and he’s unlikely to be welcomed back with open arms, so while the Mail claim van Persie favours a move back to the Gunners, it could be troublesome.

There’s also the question of whether United would be willing to sell to a domestic rival. With the club currently well off the pace the last thing they’d want to do is strengthen a competitor, so you’d imagine Moyes would prefer to sell abroad to the likes of Juve or AC Milan if the player pushes for a move.

Van persie should not even think of winning hearts of Arsenal faithfuls after he did worst than Adebayors celebration whilst at City. He should go to Chelsea and try his firepower if he thinks he still has it.
