Manchester United beat Olympiakos 3-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night to complete a superb turn-around and secure their place in the quarter final’s of the Champions League.

Going into the second leg trailing 2-0, United pulled one back via a penalty in the 25th minute after van Persie was fouled in the area. The Dutchman picked himself up to convert from the spot before sweeping home the second on the stroke of half-time after being teed up by Wayne Rooney.

Van Persie then completed his hat trick with a free-kick early in the second half to give United the lead for the first time in the tie, and while Olympiakos had some chances to get the vital away goal, the hosts held out to book their place in the last 8.
